About

JUVENAL REIS

My art making is a continuous search for the meaning of life where identity and belongingness is central to the acceptance of what it is. I use series to construct my response to my struggles.

Juvenal Reis is a professional painter, sculptor, teacher, speaker, writer, curator, philanthropist, collector and community development entrepreneur. He believes Artists are the foundation of an economical system and it is our responsibility to encourage creative people to pursue what they value most by promoting opportunities for artists to create and reinvent our lives. Founder of Reis Studios, Inc.; an international community of established and emerging artists in Long Island City since 2002. Founder of dArtis, Inc. a Not-For-Profit 501c3 organization to provide affordable spaces, support and education to emerging artists from all disciplines in the USA and abroad. Currently under development, a project in Sunset Park, Brooklyn, NY, Elmira, NY and a franchising system to expand its reach especially in underdeveloped communities. Former board member at Queens Council on the Arts in Queens, NY from 2008 to 2018 and former board member at White Box in Manhattan. He speaks Portuguese, Spanish, English, French and Italian.
